Eee PC XEPC.org 升級光碟 (20080224)
February 24, 2008 – 11:02 pm由於新 kernel 等等的東西還需要一段時間測試和除錯，所以先發佈一個不含新 kernel 的版本吧，如果要重裝系統的朋友，重裝之後可以用這個新版本的升級光碟了，今次的變更包括：
- 升級過程簡化，不用回答很多問題
- 安裝之後會刪除 /usr/doc 和 /usr/share/doc 這些很少用到的說明檔案，省下很多空間
- 加入華碩到今天的所有更新，包括最新的輸入法修正
- 可以用熱鍵 Ctrl-Alt-P 使用 PCMan 的 pcmamfm，圖像檔更會使用 gpicview 打開，速度倍增！
- 不再預設安裝 zsnes, xmame 了，因為不是人人都需要用到，需要時再 apt-get 吧。
- Firefox 和 samba 安全性更新
- 使用小巧的 sakura 終端機代替原來的 uxterm，速度快而且美觀，更有 tab 分頁功能

New kernel needs more time for test and debug, so we will release an intermediate release of XEPC.org upgrade CD first. This upgrade includes:
- Minor fine tuning of upgrade process, clear /usr/doc and /usr/share/doc to gain more space
- Added: Chinese input fixes for some programs, pcmanfm file manager (hotkey = Ctrl-Alt-P), gpicview image viewer
- Removed: zsnes, xmame not installed by default XEPC
- Updates: firefox update, samba security fix, change default terminal (hotkey = Ctrl-Alt-T) to sakura

請問在UBUNTU我的印表機可以使用
Canon PIXMA MP150 - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.0.1
來驅動，
不知要安裝甚麼才可讓eeepc使用我的印表機列印

Eee PC 上應該沒有 gutenprint ，不過你可以嘗試選擇 postscript, 不行的話再想辦法，這個要用的話可以試試看用 debian etch 的 deb 包。
要“測試安裝”的話可以用這指令: dpkg –dry-run -i xxxx.deb
會測試有沒有東西有衝突。

在 ubuntu 7.10 下可以抓到 USB 數位電視棒 (winfast dtv dongle, usb ID 是 0413:6025, chip 是Dibcom 3000P) 的驅動程式，在 EeePC 抓不到。請問這只要安裝哪些套件就可解決？還是需要更新 kernel？

只有華碩的USB數位電視棒有支援。
其實已經在測試新 kernel 了(2.6.24.2) 不過很多基層的東西也要升級才能用，所以還要測試一段時間。

請問:
1. 已安裝20080209測試版升級, 可否用F9還原再升級及除去zsnes和xmame? 還是要用DVD還原呢?
2. 原來EeePC的File Manager用Windows network的Share folder中文檔案都正確顯示但不能打開, 除了手動mount外有其他解決方法嗎?
3. 用dpkg安裝軟件後有衝突, 如何uninstall?

1. 如果要移除的話，也是要用 DVD 還原，這也是使用第一分割區來升級的缺點。
2. Samba 中文的問題是掛載選項不對，但這個檔案管理軟體沒有源碼，我們修改不到。 Orz…
3. 跟普通的 Debian 一樣，可以用 dpkg -l 看安裝了什麼，可以用 dpkg -r [套件名] 移除。

我用corega 的ip分享器有USB Port 連 印表機，在 Ubuntu 有 mp-150 型號可選用。
這台 Canon 只有這各能用。
用 epc 設定印表機：
ipp://192.168.1.1/printers/lpt1
或
ipp://192.168.1.1:631/printers/lpt1
都會產生類似情形。
另外，要如何才有辦法用Ubuntu 的 ppd或是要用那個source自行編譯。

Hi,
I have installed the upgrade pack, but looks like after the installation, the webcam no longer works. I tried it with the Webcam application in easy mode. But the webcam cannot display anything.
I tried to type cam 1 on terminal, but it said the command cam is not found.
can anyone help?
Do you guys have the same problem?

請在 Terminal 中輸入 “ps -aux | grep cups” 看看有沒有 “cups” 或類似程序執行中。如果沒有的話不能打印。

Please do a recover using ASUS’s recovery DVD “before” using the upgrade pack, it you have installed something else before using upgrade pack, the package database maybe got confusion or some files maybe not updated afterward, so it is highly recommended to use ASUS recovery DVD to clear all things before using XEPC.org upgrade CD.

Yup, I recover with the dvd before the upgrade.
And I just found out the problem, if I have the OS installation set to Start in the bios, the webcam won’t work. Now it’s working fine with the upgrade pack now.

這個訊息沒有什麼問題，也可以看到它有在執行 cupsd (列印管理程式)，那要再研究是什麼地方出錯了。

Don’t worry, LazyEeePC and XEPC upgrade disc is compatible, but it is recommended to upgrade XEPC.org before using LazyEeePC due to file system concern.
