勁想知道用咩cpu? 先前聽講話係用返C900, 唔知仲會唔會係降頻版呢…

Is the keyboard any bigger than on the 700 model?
By ICT Blog on Apr 12, 2008
The body & keyboard are the same size as the 700, they just made the screen bigger
But as i can see from your blog you already found this out…

Looks cool, but HP just introduced an 8.9 inch mini-note with 120 GB HDD for $549. It weighs 2.8 lbs. For a link to order and the latest news and deals on ultramobile computers check out http://backpackcomputing.com

Pretty damn sexy! Thanks for the pics. Can’t wait to pick up one of these thing summer.
By xxdesmus on Apr 13, 2008
@ shutup:
Plant tulips, buddyyyyyyyyyy!
@ Everyone else:
Between the HP Mini-Note using a sizable, slower, power-hungry chip, and not being especially configurable [I'd prefer to max out the RAM and have Blue-Tooth in a Linux version] and the eee PC 900 eschewing the Intel Atom for the older Intel chip just so they can get it out the door… I’ll have a tough choice between buying either one of these compromises [knowing that more capable machines are likely just around the corner] or continuing to wait as I have ever since the first eee’s started showing up. By the time the Black 8G models started being in stock, I knew about the new 9″ model [decided to wait], not sure how much longer my resolve will last!
In any instance, thank you for posting these snaps! In future, you might consider including a ruler or tape measure alongside the subject so people can get an idea as to the size/scale/etc.
Cheers!
Hano

Is there any difference between the version of Xandros in the 700 series and 900 series?
By NickF on Apr 13, 2008
Definitely an improvement all around, but note the following:
- Height bigger now (battery-to-touchpad)
- power brick! (One of the nicest parts of the 701 was the lack of a power-brick).

SOooo Tempting!
Well, whatever happens with the UMPC market, which will probably spike once 66% of all US households already have 1-2 standard laptops, it will owe a large Debt of Gratitude to Asus for pretty much showing everyone else out there how it’s done.
By wonkydonky on Apr 13, 2008
The new EeePC seems to me as the logical evolution of the 700 series, the Intel Atom came right on time and the 12Gb SSD + 1Gb RAM really adds to it. I wonder what comes next!
Hey..What about the multitouch pad shown some time ago? http://gizmodo.com/372482/asus-eee-pc-900-lands-at-the-fcc-macbook-air-style-multi+touch-trackpad-revealed
By Malk4vi4n on Apr 13, 2008
Thanks for the great shots and the scoop!
- The casing looks the same as the 700 series.
- Battery and charger look bulkier
- The monitor takes all the space of the panel now and I wonder where they put the speakers
I can see there is still that annoying tilting space bar problem
I can’t wait to see how good the screen resolution is.
Cheers

我只是懷疑為什麼不寫 “鍵盤”。 這不是英文的 “keyboard” 麼? 我看文章都是寫 “keyboard”。
By 浪花 on Apr 13, 2008
The speakers are underneath and amplify out the front so the sound doesnt get muffled. Seen the video review of it on youtube

Someone did not do their research… As stated above:
“The body & keyboard are the same size as the 700, they just made the screen bigger ”
Not true. The 900 is bigger in size than the 700 in BOTH body and screen.

hmmmm I thought ASUS was a Taiwanese company….yet…it says “made in china” Without getting into the “Taiwan IS China argument” I thought goods made in Taiwan were Taiwanese. Is it maybe that it IS actually made in China? Just curious.
By buggo on Apr 14, 2008
When can I buy one in the USA?
By GlockNinja on Apr 14, 2008
Xiexie!
@buggo: The People’s Republic of China (mainland China) and the Republic of China (usually just Taiwan) do lots of business with one another. The hardware is likely designed in Taiwan and manufactured/assembled on the mainland.

想請問 lazyfai 大大, 這次 900 系列 無線網路有支援 LEAP IEEE802.1x 加密嗎?
用之前網路上那招 xandros 原始 madwifi 穩定性和收信強度都不甚良好, 能看一下嗎?
By nakazima on Apr 14, 2008
Wow but when arrive in europe?!
By luke on Apr 14, 2008
Yes, ASUS is a Taiwan company, but like most Taiwan manufacturers, their factories have moved to mainland China, and thus “Made in China”, very much like your China made Nikes…

Glad to see the entire screen bezel is being used.

Гарний пристрій,як буде продаватись у нас то потрібно буде купити. А помоєму подібний формфактор у Apple існує вже давно.
By Assus on Apr 15, 2008
Where are the speakers now? Probably moved to underside. Old Eees sounded surprisingly OK. I guess these ones will be worse. Oh, well, larger screen is totally worth it.

I don’t see a socket for a telephone line so it looks like no dial-up, no internal modem.

Am I the only one that got on this bandwagon years ago with the Sony Vaio PCG-C1VPK? That was a great laptop in its time… I still have it and use it. Upgraded the ram to max and the harddrive… but 667Mhz is slow, and Windows 2000 limits me to a fast crippled IE (no tabbed browsing) or a dog-slow FireFox.
I’m sitting on the sidelines and waiting though… The EEPC isn’t that much faster than my 667Mhz Sony and has a sixth the hard drive space, the HP looks sweet but the battery life is unacceptable, and Cloudbook has promise but is plagued by overheating issues…. I’m just waiting on someone to build one that gets everything right.
Charles.
