XEPC.org 定制版 Eee PC 還原光碟面世
April 24, 2008 – 8:53 pmXEPC.org 定制版本(基於華碩釋出的還原光碟) 的 Eee PC 還原光碟來了。
2G, 4G, 8G, Surf 跟 non-Surf 版本全部通用，不過9寸版本的支援要等一陣子有。
定制版本的還原光碟特點如下:
- 包含了原來華碩的系統，再加上一直到四月中的所有更新。
- 已經加入了 XEPC.org 的所有升級及修正，包括 pcmanfm, gpicview, sakura 等好用小工具。
- 使用 squashfs 配合原來的 unionfs 技術，把第一分區壓至1G 大小，因此 2G 版本也可以有 Java 等功能！
- 不過因為使用了唯讀的壓縮技術，XEPC.org 升級光碟不能在這版本下使用，但是一般的華碩和XEPC升級(apt-get install xxx)還是適用。
- 因為要節省空間，安裝後不會有“完整桌面”模式，想要這模式的話可以在安裝之後用 apt-get install kicker ksmserver 來安裝
使用方法就是跟原來華碩的還原光碟一樣。
不過這個版本只適用於中文及英文語系，其他語系的用戶要再等一下囉。

在下沒有光碟機，又好想裝瘦身版…就把光碟版做了點小改造，以USB碟成功還系統。分享給同樣等不及的網友，使用步驟如下︰
1. 將光碟內容複製到usb disk中。
2. 下載 epc.zip，解壓縮至usb disk中。
3. 使用syslinux（3.62版以上）將usb disk做成開機碟。
4. 使用usb disk開機，之後步驟同還原光碟。
在下只有修改initrd.gz中，將P701L.img的來源由光碟（/dev/sr0）改成usb disk（/dev/sdc1）。一般而言usb disk會掛在sdc（SSD→sda，讀卡機→sdb），若非如此則無法成功。
另外epc.zip中的syslinux.exe為3.62版，是從clonezilla中取出。在windows下執行makeboot.bat即可將usb disk做成開機碟。
註: XEPC-Recovery-20080426.iso 已經加入 Ren 站友的 USB 支援，只要把 ISO 中所有檔案放入 USB，再跑 makeboot.bat 即可。

Use your DVD burning software and open the ISO file “as CD image” and burn to a blank DVD.
Press Esc key several times when you see the grey “ASUS Eee PC” screen, and choose to boot from USB DVD ROM, the steps is same as using ASUS recovery disc.

2GB RAM 內核可以用原來的 eeeuser 上的方法換掉。
另外 USB disk 的話，再等一下就有了（做法類似升級光碟）。

經過3天的努力，終於把 在eee701 的大部分功能在 eee900 呈現出來，可是看了看 df -haT sda1 已經用掉 33%，剩下 900 多MB，這是以前在 8G 永遠看不到的數字，現在在 4G 這麼快就到了，希望趕快看到 eee 900 的瘦身光碟阿

Eee PC 900 還有一個可以做的功能－把2個 SSD 組合在一起，變成一片過的 20G 空間！
不過現在比較忙，下星期會嘗試，成功的話 20G 版本 Eee PC 900 可以有 19G 空間。

請問可以直接使用eeepc上已經編譯好的2gb核心嗎（http://www.effem.110mb.com/）那一個比較合適呢？因為我試了頭3個都不行，之前是用第1個就ok。

請問一下這裡是如何修改的。。。。是將/boot/vmlinuz vga=normal quiet initrd=/boot/initrd.gz root=/dev/ram0 rw acpi=on 改为/boot/vmlinuz vga=normal quiet initrd=/boot/initrd.gz root=/dev/sdc1吗？
我改過了但是不行啊。。。。。

Re: six 這個要有一點 Linux 知識才能做，要把 initrd.gz 打開再重包.
打開: gunzip initrd.gz (會自動變成 initrd 檔名)
裝載: mount -o loop initrd /mnt (假如想裝載在 /mnt)
修改: /mnt/etc/init.d/rcS
卸載: umount /mnt
再包: gzip initrd
不過 Ren 君已經做好了，用他的就成，只要再下載 syslinux 把USB 變成可開機。

I have a question about after upgraded from my self-made dvd i found that my eeepc totally cannot be recognised when i insert my previously-use 4G SD card into that normal slot of my eeepc, what can i do to make it can once again being recognised??

Hi Fai,
跟Isabella情況相似。SDHC card的內容在第一次可讀之後就不能被認出，而且最有趣的是把SDHC退出來後依然可看到內裡的檔案，好像SD card的內容被抄到SSD裡去，但換了另一片SDHC就認不出來，也沒有那個SD的icon。

Please get the new DVD ISO and reinstall, I’ve made some updates to the system, which includes a fix of USB storage / SD card from ASUS, and also this should fix the language selection.
For IE6, please use the previous method to install it again after reinstall.
Download ies4linux and follow the post of IE6 installation.

我在升級的時候遇到了問題……
這樣的，我按照了你們提供的方法製造了隨身碟……
一開始就說找不到menu.c32,然後我就手動輸入，啓動了……
後來問題就出來了，說什麽mount dev/sdc1什麽什麽 failed……
對不起啊，我也不太懂，說得不清楚，然後很快就重啓了……
我重新做了很多次，但是還是不行……

我猜你用的是 Eee PC 900 對嗎?
如果是的話，因為有2個SSD，所以USB 變成了 /dev/sdd1, 所以暫時還未支援 Eee PC 900,
但是你也可以在BIOS關掉第2個(8G 或 16G)SSD, 應該可以用的了。
但這個辦法只是暫時性的，況且 Eee PC 900 不需要這麼節省，因為它會使用第二個 SSD 來存數據，很足夠。

Get syslinux latest zip here:

Uncompress and put menu.c32 to USB disk.
Your problem maybe come from entering the recovery disc yourself but not the menu.

之後點擊makeboot製作開機隨身碟
這樣就完成了，不過裝好之後
我的SD卡偶爾會讀不到(重開機有機會好)
原本是沒有遇過讀不到的情況說…orz

我安裝了壓縮版
我也開啟了進階模式
可是在進階模式下open office卻無法切換中文輸入法鍵入中文
重新命名檔案的時候也不行切換輸入法打中文
在易模式則有時可以有時不行
(在尚未安裝壓縮版之前也偶而會有這種問題
解決的方法大多為重新啟動open office或重開機)
而且兩個模式都無法設定輸入法的偏好設定
請問是什麼原因呢

提供另一種成功的方式:
1.使用華碩還原光碟做出可還原的隨身碟,再將隨身碟內的P701L.gz刪除.
2.將XEPC.org 定制版光碟中P701L.img利用7-zip壓縮成P701L.gz後,丟入隨身碟內.
3.使用隨身碟開機,之後輸入yes就會開始還原.
4.還原後第一次開機,請先按F9再還原(格式化sda2),這樣就可以正常開機了.
PS:我的SD卡偶爾也會讀不到但重開機就正常.

這個方法也可以，不過還有兩個檔案要換，是 blockcount.dat 和 user_start.dat
否則硬碟分割會做錯，可用空間會減少。

另外在進階模式中，OpenOffice.org 無法切換中文輸入法，但其他地方(firefox, thunderbird, terminal, 檔案管理等)都可以，請問你是用什麼方法進入進階模式的? 是修改設定還是開機進入易模式後切換?

請暫時不要使用 2GB kernel, 因為這個 kernel 並不支援壓縮檔案系統。

我終于成功了！
昨天做了很久，但是沒有成功……
由於今天上午還有課，就睡覺了，打算放棄，第二天再來這裡求助……
今天下午一來到就看到了lyo和fai的留言……
試了試……
成功了！
我用Asus的光盤製作了隨身碟，我從XEPC-Recovery-20080426.iso複製了blockcount.dat 和 user_start.dat進去，用7-zip壓縮成P701L.img成P701L.gz，噢，對了，還有一個bld文件（其實我也不知道這個文件有什麽用），然後再在syslinux 3.63那裏取了menu.c32……
最後呢，謝謝這裡所有幫助過我的人，謝謝了……
還有阿，你們說SD讀不到，我第一次開機就讀不到了，重啓又行了…………

When trying this build (XEPC-Recovery-20080426.iso) on VirtualBox, It installs fine. But on reboot, I get:
/etc/resolvconf/update.d/libc: Warning: /etc/resolv.conf is not a symbolic link to /etc/resolvconf/run/resolv.conf
It just keeps blinking like that on VirtualBox. I take this does not happen on the actual EeePC?

That message is due to the special loading order (fastinit) in Eee PC, in new system, we usually use a symlink /etc/resolv.conf -> resolvconf/run/resolv.conf, while /etc/resolvconf/run is a symlink to /var/run/resolvconf, but in Eee PC, it is a symlink to /dev/shm/resolvconf.
This is not a problem originally, as /dev/shm is basically a small ram disk, but it is not yet mount at the very beginning, luckily (?) Eee PC’s fastinit hasn’t mount /dev/shm at the very beginning but at a later stage, so this warning happens, it is not harmful after bootup.

小弟成功用你的還原光碟(19/4 出的版本)從灌了我的EPC, 一切正常, 所以也就未有升級至26 號那一版.
但用同一隻光碟從灌我朋友的EPC 後, 卻有間中不能讀取SD 卡的情況, 後來再試了26 號那一版仍是沒有改善. 小弟的EPC 是8G 版, 而我朋友的是2G 版. 我們所知的分別就只有這個, 不知道對你debug 有沒有用. 另外小弟亦想問一問其他SD 卡不能正常讀取的朋友, 他們的EPC 也是2G 版的嗎?

SD 卡不能讀取的問題，跟 XEPC 沒有關係，在 eeeuser.com 也有人提及過，看來是跟其中一個華碩的更新檔有關。暫時的解決方法，是當不能讀取 SD 的時候，打開一個終端機，輸入一句指令，叫系統偵測一下硬體：
sudo udevtrigger
或者
sudo /etc/init.d/xandros-udev restart

lazyfai, 謝謝你的解答, 但小弟有另一個問題就是amsn 用不到camera, 每次入audio and video assistant 的時侯便只有一個灰畫面, 不能繼續亦不能退出, 請問有指令可以解決這問題嗎? 謝謝!

我也遇過相同的問題，發現 amsn 打開 camera 時引致 kernel 出錯，要看一下是不是新版本的驅動程式有問題，在其他(如 Skype, 拍照) 功能是沒有這個問題的。

研究了一下，發現有一次最近的更新之後，udev 就出問題了。
遇到有什麼 USB, camera, SD/MMC 等的問題，例如偵測不到硬體的時候，請跑一個指令偵測硬體一下：
sudo udevtrigger

我發覺更新後, SD 的路徑自動變了”D:”, 不再是”SD卡” -> “partiton1″ 這個路徑.而且

awk ‘$1 < 60 { exit 1 }’ /proc/uptime && xandros_device_detection_dialog.copy “$@” &
這個script 再無法阻止開機時的SD 卡pop up.

Eee PC 的套件跟 Debian 的不同，請盡量不要使用，特別是KDE或者內核相關的套件。
看來你的 /etc/apt/sources.list 中有 Debian 的源，請先刪掉。

I have no usb DVD drive so i want to use usb thumb.
You mention that copy all files from iso into usb thumb.
Does it meant that i need to extract all files inside
iso file and copy them all into usb thumb? Or I just
need to copy the iso file into the usb thumb?

I have successfully upgrade my eee pc 701 with your advice.
Yet I encounter the same problem of “menu.c32″ not found and I
solve it by following the method ernest010709 proposed.
There are a few points I would like to ask for your valuable opinion:
Firstly, you said that there is no “完整桌面” in this version. But, I
found it already installed after I finished the upgrade. I would like to know why?
Secondly, when i turn on sukara, it shows “user@asus-xxxxxx” where xxxxxx is a
number. It does not show “user@my_user_name”. Also, I would like to know why?
Thirdly, what is your opinion about following Tad’s teaching to install
“Super File Manager”, “Gimp2″ etc.? Is it safe or not?

1. Originally, due to space constraint, I haven’t add Full Desktop Mode, but finally added in 2nd version (1st version has been removed from sourceforge.net)
2. The host name has changed in ASUS upstream version, so we follow the ASUS version, this can also avoid many people with a same name in the same LAN, think of an office with 3 people called Ray.
3. XEPC.org recovery/upgrade is fully compatible with the ASUS original OS, so you can still use Tad/yurenju’s method to do any additional softwares.

但我無論係bios set boot from果隻USB手指, 或者係係灰色畫面都按

華碩正在測試新版本的系統（1.6版本），當他們測試完成之後，這邊都會有同步的更新，新版的系統是有2G 以上記憶體支援的。
