XEPC 還原光碟 20080620
June 24, 2008 – 10:34 pm更新了一下 Eee PC 7xx 系列適用的 XEPC 壓縮版還原光碟，新版本除了繼續有最新的應用軟體之外，最重要的是，新版本的還原光碟使用的底層系統是跟 Eee PC 901 相同的版本 - Eee PC 操作系統 1.6 。
1.6 版本有支援 2G 的記憶體，還有速度的提升，3G/GPRS 網路的支援，Remote Desktop (RDP) 支援，新的更新系統和一些臭蟲修正等等。不過 1.6 有一個缺點，就是沒有了完整桌面版本了。
註: Eee PC 901 因為硬體上跟系統上都跟 7xx 系列相差很遠，所以要另外弄一個版本出來，請耐心等待。

很高興看到有中文的eee 網站.. 有下列問題請教:
1. 你的光盤另有900版嗎?
2. 光盤是否包括 firefox 3.0 / gimp 2.4 / wine 1.0?
3. 有些簡體中文網站含彈出登入框 (popup logon window) … 用firefox 不能顯示… 例如: http://www.cmbc.com.cn 中的 vip 登入, firefox 看不懂網站的認証… http://www.newone.com.cn... firebox 看不懂 logon window 的 jsp…. 在xp 用 ie 完全ok… 但用firefox 包括另在xp 跑firefox 3.0 還是有問題… firefox 單看簡體網頁沒問題… 是否firefox 的設定可解決?
4. 如何在eee 加上 簡易輸入法? 你網站說的更新 gcin 是什麼?

1. 暫時沒有，不過悄後會弄 901 的版本，同時希望可以用在 900 上。
2. 有 Firefox 2.0.14, 3.0 在 Eee PC 上跑不到(GTK太舊), gimp 沒有，不過可以拿 debian etch 的，wine 1.0 有包括在內。
3. cmbc 的話，是網站的認證有問題(sec_error_inadequate_cert_type)，似乎該網站的認證不合規格(firefox在這方面很嚴格)，應該可以在設定上修改一下，不過要花一點時間找找。
4. 預設的輸入法已經是 gcin, 你可以用 “*” 代替要輸入的碼，例如 人*火 等於簡易的 “人火”。

1. 我在另一台 xp 跑firefox 3.0 比 ie 真的快很多… 要在eee跑firefox 3.0 是否只更新 gtk 就可以? 有何風險?
2.gimp 2.4 的 binaries 只找到 unstable 的 debian sid 版本… http://packages.debian.org/search?searchon=names&keywords=gimp 可用?
3. 另外 http://www.newone.com.cn 的 logon jsp http://www.newone.com.cn/main.jsp 出現 element referenced by ID/NAME in the global scope. use W3C standard document.getElementById() instead. 是否firefox 只懂在網頁看簡體字符.. 在jsp 不懂?
為何在 ie 又沒問題? 怎解決?
4. 按 http://www.eeeuser.com 的 wiki… 加了 repos… 但很多軟件版本蠻舊… 而且有部份repos 接不上 (可能近日down了) 可否 分享 一下你的sources.list?

請用 etch 版本的 gimp： http://packages.debian.org/etch/gimp
應該要下載幾個 deb 包，例如 gimp-data 等。
全部下載了之後，可以用 dpkg -i xxxxxx.deb 這指令安裝他們。
關於 IE 跟 Firefox 的問題，這是長久以來 IE 佔了大部份市場，而 MS 又加了很多標 HTML/JS 的東西在 IE 裡，所以很多人在設計網站時都不自覺使用了 MS 專用的 HTML/JS。 要暫時解決這個問題，可以安裝 ies4linux，XEPC.org 中已經有教學，可以跟著做。
有很多第三方的 repo 不是完全跟 Eee PC 的兼容，又或者只做了一次就沒再更新。
我的 source.list 只有華碩的跟 XEPC.org 的。

1. etch 的gimp版本是2.2 不是2.4.
2. 試過你建議用 * 號在輸入法中代替中間字碼…但提示框中常用字都排在很後的位置, 非常不便..好像你光盤中含 “速成” 輸入法…是否等於”簡易”? 可否單獨安裝?
3. 已加 xepc repos.. 及 其public key… 用 apt-get install wine 嘗試安裝 wine 1.0… 但出現很多 unmet dependencies, 及 packages not going to be installed…為何? 用 apt-get -f 強制安裝會否有風險?
4. 怎樣知道我的 eee 900 版本是否 1.6? browse 過 你提供的link /1.6/ 下的 p900… 但什麼都沒有呢?

1. 對，很可惜的，Eee PC 原裝的 OS 只能用 etch 的包，即 2.2。
2. 如果你想用速成的話，要換掉輸入法軟體，最舊的版本 Eee PC OS 上有 scim, 後來改為 gcin, 我的 repo 中也有 scim, 你可以用 apt-get 的方式安裝 scim 和 scim-tables 及其他輸入法，然後用 update-alternatives 來選擇，詳情請研究一下 /etc/alternatives/ 下面的東西。
3. 可以貼出你看到的東西嗎?
4. 新版本的 OS (1.6) 把套件放好了，共用的在 common, p701 獨有的在 p701, 如此類推，tw, hk, cn 那些是語系相關的套件。因為 900 和 7xx 系列在軟體上差不多一樣，所以都在 common 裡頭。

我也有讀不到SD card 的問題, 唯有在在開機後用sudo udevtrigger 把SD card 叩出來, 但始終感覺不太好, 請問lazyfai 兄有其他可以一試的解決辦法嗎?

關於 SD 和 USB 磁碟的問題，有一些人會遇到，大部份人都沒有這個問題，暫時來說可以用 udevtrigger 的方法 workaround。
另外請看看 BIOS 中的其中一個 USB 選項是設定為 Finished 還是 Install ?

1.請問一下,未來901還原光碟完成後可以用在 901 12G XP版本上嗎,因為原來想買20G linux版,可是到處缺貨,只好先買了901 12G版本 !!

沒問題的，901 XP版本跟 Linux 版本硬體上並沒有分別，只是SSD 比較小。到時只要用光碟開機安裝即可。

BIOS 中的USB 設定是finish, 小弟已經試過把它改為install, 但沒有分別.
除了另USB 這問題之外, 另外亦有一個有趣的問題, 就是asuslauncher 中不見了”檔案管理員”那個圖示, 雖然小弟改用lxde 後基本上只會用pcmanfm, 但亦想知這是不是我才遇到的問題, 如果是的話, 可能我應該再燒一次碟去從灌我的epc.

華碩OS 中，以前的檔案管理員是調用 eeepc-file-manager-helper.sh 來打開的，但是新版本中因為加入了 yostore，改為調用 /opt/yostore/xandrosFM.sh，但實際上，700系列的系統中並沒有這個腳本，所以圖示消失了，這個看來是華碩更新時的小缺失，是正常的，你可以自己寫一個 /opt/xandros/bin/eeepc-file-manager-helper.sh 腳本就成了。
腳本內容就2行:

馬田，我的情況跟你一樣，所以不只是你有這個問題。我的eeepc總不能用壓縮版本的光盤來update。我可能又要回0312版本，那個比較穩定。

請問你們的 SD 是不是長期插在 Eee PC 上的呢?
我剛剛亂試了一輸，遇到相同的問題，SD 要 udevtrigger 才能偵測到，
F9 還原之後又可以用，這個情況好像發生在插著 SD 來開關機的時候。
但 SD用不到的時候，USB磁碟和其他都可以正常使用。

嗯，之前一直都是長期插在 Eee PC上的。剛才再試了一下，不插著開機之後插上也認不出SD。用udevtrigger就沒有問題。

那我先估計馬田也是這樣長期插 SD 在 Eee PC 上面，因為很久之前也遇過這樣的情況，就是當有USB磁碟或者SD插在 Eee PC 上然後關機的話，下次再開機就不能自動掛載。這應該是 Eee PC 的系統識別 “hotplug” 設備的 bug, 我會嘗試找原因，不過暫時的解決方法是先做一下 F9 還原，然後開機和關機時不要把 SD 留在 Eee PC 裡面，這應該不會有偵測不到的問題，長久的方法我再研究一下。

我的情況跟你估計的一樣, SD 卡長插, F9 還完之後第一次開機時SD 卡可以正常使用, 但第二次後就不行了.

試驗過一下，原來只要把 USB 儲存設備的驅動程式卸載後再次載入，就能夠成功使用。
再查看了開機用的 ramdisk，原來一開機已經載入 USB 的驅動，估計這樣載入太早了，於是想到一個比較好的方法了，就是開機時不要先載入 USB 驅動，待它掛載起 SSD 之後才自動偵測，這樣就成功了，即使一直有 USB 磁碟或 SD 也可以。這個修正會放入下一次的更新中。

如果我的701之前已經做過壓縮還原光碟的安裝
用0620這個版本需要先還原回出廠的狀態嗎？
因為我放入0620版本
開機後輸入yes
結果跑出如下的錯誤（很多個，我隨便打2個，只是block位置不同）

重開機後，跑完BIOS就停住了。

你遇到的這個錯誤是 DVD 燒錄時有問題，可試試再錄一片，或者用 DVD-R, DVD-RW 有時候會這樣。
另外因為壓縮版本的結構跟普通系統不同，有點像路由器、電視遊戲機、電腦 BIOS 那樣，升級時只能重裝，所以要先備份好自己的檔案再做。

USB 驅動是在 initramfs 中載入的，要做的就是把 initramfs 中載入 USB 驅動的幾行拿掉就成了，我已經弄好一個新的 /boot/initramfs-eeepc.img，不過如果要換的話，一定要用 Live CD (如 ubuntu eee) 開機，掛載起第一個分割區，把新的 initramfs-eeepc.img 蓋過去。
如果你懂的話，可以拿這個 initramfs-eeepc.img 換過去。

這個是 java 在新版本的 X 中的 bug，和 X.org 的其中一個功能 - Xinerama 有關:

暫時的 workaround 是用 sed 把 java 中的 awt 部份修改一下，使它不去使用 Xinerama.
sudo sed -i ’s/XINERAMA/FAKEEXTN/g’ /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun/jre/lib/i386/xawt/libmawt.so
這樣就會正常了。

I just installed the XEPC restore discs 20080620 and I’d like to know how to reset the desktop language to English. Otherwise it looks good, but my knowledge of Chinese is nil.

1) Use “Ctrl+Alt+T” to call out a terminal,
2) Enter “sudo /opt/xandros/bin/locale_dialog”
3) Choose English and enjoy!

Thanks for the help, but trying to run locale_dialog doesn’t work nor opening it in aditor is successful. When running as sudo /…/locale_dialog, I get a command-not-found message. Openning in an editor produces unreadable results.
What am I missing?

Sorry I don’t know what’s wrong. I am not so good in Linux but you may try the following:
1) Ctrl+Alt+T
2) Enter “sudo -s”
3) Enter “kate /etc/default/locale” (or use any other editor to open “/ext/default/locale” as root)
4) Change “LANG=zh_TW.UTF-8″ to “LANG=en_US.UTF-8″

The problem is not how to open and edit a text file. The problem is finding the right file to open. In your first suggestion, you said the file was at etc/xandros/bin/locale_dialog. I found that file, but when I open it with an editor, the file is in binary and isn’t editable with a text editor. In your 2nd message you suggested editing a file at etc/default/locale, but there’s nothing there to edit.
Sorry for being so dumb, but this language barrier is tough.

But, some things are still in Chinese although the tabs are in English. For instance, when I open the Wireless Connect dialog, it’s in Chinese. I worked around it for now. I guess I’ll put learning Chinese on my to-dp list.

I am so sorry for the misleading. In fact the first method is the run the file but not edit it. Since both methods work fine on my eeepc and we are using the same recovery disk, so I guess it works for you as well. I am so sorry for the confusing instruction.

應該可以的，雖然 kernel 版本不完全一樣，但 initramfs 裡面沒有什麼驅動，所以也可以用。

As I reported the other day, I got most of OS 1.6 in English now, but the odd applet (Wireless is one) is still coming up in Chinese. I don’t remember if you said that will be fixed soon or I needed to report that again. Either way I’ll be patient.

Somethings wrong with new upgrade disk! When i tried to install it there was this blue screen like naoki said. when i managed to install it there was problem with english support, a lot of programms were in chinese!

Two of the programs that are in Chinese are the Wireless Networking app and the Solitaire program in the Games area. There may be others,but I haven’t tried to checkall the apps.

要 Eee PC 跑 VirtualBox 有一點難度，原因是:
1. 要先安裝編繹核心的套件
2. 要編繹一個驅動程式
3. 安裝 guest OS.
4. 而且編繹好的版本只有其中幾個大的分發版本，如 Fedora, Ubuntu, Debian.
所以 Eee PC 上的這套 Linux 要安裝 VirtualBox 比較麻煩。
另外 Eee PC 跑虛擬機器實在難為了它啊。

When i installed the 0629 first problem occured, Date and Time selection have Time zones shown each 2 times. Diagnostic tools program have problem with three big buttons there’s no pictures on them. Wireless networks and Network, Anti-Virus, Sound Recorder, File manager, Video manager, Photo manager, Music manager (Amarok), Potato Guy, Solitaire, Function Plotter, Geometry, Fraction Tutorial, Calculator, PIM, Screen Capture, Hangman Game, Letter Game, Periodic Table, Planetarium, World Clock, Notes, and when i press YOStore button there is Chinese too, i assume it’s because of explorer or how do you call it in linux.

Almost forgot! I installed “ksmserver” and “kicker” to access full mode, there is also Chinese, and when i push any button on keyboard eee re-logins or resarts in some way.

Yes, I found that those programs are all KDE based applications, seems like KDE hasn’t follow the system language configuration, people found to define a file in .kde/share/config/kdeglobals, but it should not be need, I will find a simpler way to do that soon.

這個是 java 在新版本的 X 中的 bug，和 X.org 的其中一個功能 - Xinerama 有關:

感謝 lazyfai 花這麼多時間完成比官方更好的版本, 目前我在 701 上試過 0620 & 0629 都遇到待機不用時螢幕不會自動關閉, 且蓋上螢幕suspend後再打開來用時, LCD 亮度變最亮, 同時無法調整亮度的問題, 要如何解決呢?

完整桌面模式所需要的東西，在華碩的 1.6 版本中已經全部消失了，要弄回來需要源始碼，要找時間問他們拿才可以弄到。

不是容量的問題，是沒有配合他們新版本的 KDE 的源碼。

Eee PC 7xx系列用のXEPC圧縮版リカバリーディスクを更新しました。本バージョンでは今まで通り最新のアプリケーションが含まれるほか、システムのコア部分（底層系統）をEee PC 901と同じ - Eee PC OS 1.6版に変更しています。
1.6版では2GBのメモリーをサポートするほか、高速化、3G/GPPRSのサポート、リモートディスクトップ（RDP）のサポート、システムのアップデート、いくつかのバグ修正等が含まれます。ただし、1.6版には完全なディストップバージョンが含まれない（沒有了完整桌面版本）欠点があります。
注意 : Eee PC 901は7xx系列とハードウェア及びシステムの違いが大きい為、別のバージョン用意します。今暫くお待ち下さい。
