4G version of the Eee PC up to the number of space?

The answer here:
squashfs

Why can nearly 2.7 G of free space it?
This is also a complete system of the factory, plus the latest escalation of XEPC.org!
Is not approach simple to use compressed file system, the first district from 2.4G pressure into more than 900 MB, can release up to the space.

Now being tested in a few days would put the XEPC compressed version of the CD to restore them, that we will be on the system only about 1GB, Shuangba!

Advantages:
Increase the space 1GB, so that even if the 2GB version of the Eee PC can use the 4G version of the system!
Simple type gzip compression, the speed will not be much lower

Disadvantages:
That can no longer use the upgrade CD-ROM upgrade because of the compressed file system is a true read-only space.
Would like to upgrade necessary to use a new version of "XEPC.org restore compressed version of the CD."

  5. For English readers, the title is "How much space can we get from a 4G EeePC?"

    lazyfai is testing a new xepc release. This release uses gzip to compress the system files to the maximum.

    In this case, the user space can be up to 2.7GB.

    Pros:
    The system files are now about 1G only. So the 2G eeepc can also run 4G's software;
    gzip is used for the compression, the speed will not be noticeably impaired.

    Cons:
    You can't update with the xepc CD anymore, because the partition will become read only;
    future upgrade will need to start with a new version xepc CD from scratch.

  7. With 900 of 701 shots with the sound chip is different, it appears that the driver 701 does not apply to 900. :-(
    Will try some of the 900 drivers can not use 701.
