Todo list for XEPC recovery disc
April 29, 2008 - 10:58 pmIn order to let more people know the important todo list, I use English here:
- More easy to use ISO to USB disk support
- SD / MMC card reader bug fix, some of the people have difficulty of using SD / MMC slot
- Webcam not working well in aMSN for new uvcvideo driver
- More easy to use, pre-configured KDE Bluetooth support tool
- Non-destructive installation, ie. Don't format or preserve user home after recovery, Eee PC 900 recovery disc will ask user if they want to format / home after recovery
- Eee PC 900 support, the partition layout of Eee PC 900 is a bit different, with 2nd SSD as / home, something need to be changed, like fastinit
- 2GB kernel support, probably borrow from Eee PC 900 Xandros, all kernel related things need to be tested before really release it
- Chinese input support for Full Desktop Mode, gcin seems causing some trouble there
Any more request please give comments here. Thanks!

I was able to install the recovery disk from my 2gb usb drive. This is what I did.
I downloaded the recovery iso and copied all the files to the usb drive.
In windows I ran the makeboot batch file to make the drive bootable.
Then I noticed a file was missing so I copied the menu.c32 file from a previous cd to the usb drive.
Then I plugged it into my eee and booted of the usb drive. Everything went smoothly.
I would like more information about how to update my eee now. For example I tried changing the hostname normally and I wasn't able to. I had to reboot into single user mode and manually change the / etc / hostname file to the new hostname that I wanted.
Thanks

Linzou must follow suit even if the USB Flash disk, system / media / Niedu on any , Zaicha back to the USB Flash disk, system / media / on line only / media / USB Flash Disk
I would like to ask whether certain non-flying USB Flash disk drive effect?

If a SD / MMC, or the failure to detect USB, can detect some instructions:
sudo udevtrigger

Fai brother,
You have trouble, and I was. Thank you to the selfless dedication. USB detection failure, can have command sudo udevtrigger detected, resolved. Well, here we go again the question (is upgraded, have installed lazyeeepc 0.0.5.1 4GB 701 version):
Q1. There is a new set in the Promotion / Remove Programs, can be used for update purposes. But whether that software update, for example - Skype, is not update, a:
Could not get lock / var / lib / dpkg / lock - open (11 resource temporarily unavailable)
Unable to lock to administration directory (/ var / lib / dpkg /), is another process using it?
To update Stardict, cameras, is also out of this.
Q2. In the Bios inside, Onboard camera - Enable, but there is no desktop with a camera, so there is no skype video features.
Q3. Back to when the upgrade is not (that is, the ASUS machine settings) whether or not to use disc drive with the bootup again, and then xepc.org the implementation of an upgrade disc?
Thank you, Fai brother

Re: wycy2
A1. Can be used to try to upgrade command: sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get upgrade to see if there are any problems.
A2. Is also used to detect udevtrigger, if not, do the test hardware (set).
A3. ASUS used to restore the original recovery dvd. If the reduction is only just to install the upgrade XEPC, can be F9.

We have spent with instructions to upgrade: sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get upgrade and re-udevtrigger detection, but the camera icon and function is still available, so there is no skype video features. In setting, is to have a video surveillance cam to test and functioning well.
I would like to ask how could a fan icon can activate the same channel.
Thanks

Ni hao (Lay ho ma). Is there an English version of xepc.org? I am trying to convert / upgrade my 4GB 701 Xandros to OOo 2.4.x, ruby (gems / fxruby), java 1.6.x sdk, k3b, etc etc and am trying to decide to use your iso. I also want to integrate rox-filer and icewm. A few more questions: how often do you intend to upgrade your iso? Will it impact removal of unionfs?
Excellent offering anyway, well done. Ho ho (hen hao)!

Re: Wayne
As the compressed filesystem is purely read-only, unionfs is a must for it.
Roughly speaking the XEPC.org recovery disc will be released in about 4-6 weeks of time, depends on how many programs are updated / added.
A new one is coming soon, maybe next week, which should include firefox 3 as the biggest update.
